DRAG QUEEN DUTIES: MUSICAL BINGO

For Musical Drag Bingos (Drag Queens On Their Own) 🎶

The Onsite Drag Performer will coordinate with the Extragrams Manager and client the morning of the Musical Drag Bingo.

Ensure the speaker you are using is charged up and ready to rock.

Performance tracks, if applicable, will be chosen by the performer, keeping in mind the vibe of the event and making sure the tracks are fun for everyone (think pop, high-energy). Make sure these are downloaded to the phone playing music at the event.

The playlist for the Musical Bingo will should be downloaded to to the phone playing music for the Bingo. A corresponding QR code is linked in the Bingo Policy landing page, make sure you have that ready and available.

The performer will arrive to the venue at least 20 minutes early to coordinate parking and meet with the client to set up a speaker, optional microphones, and digital QR code for the musical bingo cards. Sometimes the client may have a screen available to share the QR code. The performer will also check in with the client about what Bingo prizes are available.

At the top of the event, the Drag Queen will introduce herself and work the crowd, getting everyone excited for bingo. Explain the rules. Tracks will be played at random and correspond with squares on their bingo cards. You can play in easy mode or hard mode. In easy mode, the Queen will play the track and then name the title of the song. On hard mode, the audience must recognize the track without the Queen revealing its title. The Queen can also share what the prizes are. If there are no physical prizes, you can make up a silly prize like "a compliment from a queen" or "`5 seconds of my undivided attention."

During Bingo, the Queen will play the musical bingo playlist on shuffle and work the crowd. Each song should be played for about 30 seconds. Read the room to signal if the song should stop or continue. For example, if people are singing along loudly and you're about to get to the big chorus, let the track play.

If the Bingo includes performances, then play performance tracks at a standard volume level for performing. Make sure you take advantage of the space and work the whole room!

As winners come up, make sure to get the winner's name and make them feel special. In the event of a tie or a multiple winners for grand finale prize, do a show-down. Popular ones are dance-offs, lip sync battles, or catwalk competitions. For these face offs, you'll want to play a super popular and fun song that everyone can get into. You can choose a winner based on applause.

At the end of the Musical Bingo, the offer to take group photo and pack up the materials. Thank the audience and be fiercely on your way!
